Upon embarkation, passengers must have identification documents which are valid for travel abroad, a passport, or an identity card for EU citizens. They must also be in possession of all the certificates required for travel between States in order to contain the spread of Covid–19.

For more information, please consult the special entry measures published on our website. Passengers with reduced mobility who have requested assistance must present themselves at theembarkation point at least one hour before the ship’s departure

Special measure

Passengers travelling to Corsica

hDuring embarkation, Passengers over the age of 11 must present a vaccination certificate (for the Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines: at least 7 days must have passed from the second dose. For the Johnson & Johnson vaccine: at least 28 days must have elapsed since vaccination).

Those who have not been vaccinated must present a negative PCR test carried out in the 72 hours prior to departure, or a negative antigen test carried out in the 48 hours prior to departure. It is also necessary to bring and display the self-certification form required by the French authorities.

In the absence of this documentation, embarkation will be refused.

Starting from September  1st, hauliers are not exempted from these provisions.

Special measure

Passengers travelling to Sardinia

Passengers disembarking in Italian territory are obliged to register on the government website for entrance into Italy https://app.euplf.eu which replaces the self-declaration submitted to the carrier.

Passengers must also have the Covid-19 green certificate, which is issued at least 14 days after completion of the vaccine cycle, or a certificate proving they have recovered from the infection, or that they have tested negative with a molecular or antigen test carried out 48 hours prior to arrival in Italy.

Those under the age of 6 are exempted from carrying out a swab test prior to departure.

We would remind passengers that certification for the completed vaccine cycle must be for one of the four vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency:  Pfizer-BioNtech, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and AstraZeneca. In any case we recommend consulting the Government’s FAQs on the measures in force.

The Company

Ichnusa Lines was established in 2021 by two long-standing Genoa-based companies, the Finsea Group and the San Giorgio del Porto shipbuilders, respectively operating in the fields of logistics and ship repairs. The sea is the common ground which unites their business and backgrounds. The sea is the vocation for both companies, and is where the lives and work of its people play out.

These shared business values led to the creation of Genova Trasporti Marittimi, the company which now manages Ichnusa Lines. It is an entrepreneurial challenge which offers passengers the opportunity to sail on a splendid, unique sea. Yet as the Bocche di Bonifacio prove, it can also present difficult conditions. Crossings are accordingly navigated using a ship designed and built for the purpose, offering outstanding seaworthiness even in rough seas, thanks to its state-of-the-art stabilising system.

The Fleet

Nave Ichnusa was constructed in the Castellammare di Stabia shipyard in Campania by Fincantieri. Launched in 1985, it is 64 metres long and 13 wide. It has two stabilising fins, a technical characteristic designed to allow it to operate uninterruptedly in the waters between Corsica and Sardinia, a stretch which has always been subject to strong currents and coastal storms. Its structure also makes it well suited to short journeys; it has a single lounge area with a maximum capacity of 325 passengers, and a vehicle garage of around 200 linear metres which holds almost 50 cars.
